Cafe Three-Zero Take 7 Author Interview – with D.P.Roberts

Each week we are featuring a couple of our soon to be published authors, and inviting them to answer 7 questions about their writing and inspirations. Our fourth interview features D.P. Roberts.  You can also find out a little more about him on his author page…

Q1  Give us some background on yourself?

I’ve worked in catering so long that I don’t know if I can still manage a real smile.

Q2  What was the basis for your story in Tales from the Cafe, Vol 1?

The story came from a “what if”  idea I had whilst walking by the canal with my wife on a glorious summer’s day.

Q3  Why did you want to become an author?

Q4  Any advice for fledgling authors?

If  you really like a particular phrase or section in a piece then it probably needs cutting.

Q5  What authors do you like and admire?

Stephen King just has a storytelling voice that makes me listen and believe. Terry Pratchett, no-one cleverer or funnier. Ian M  Banks, peerless sci-fi.

Q6  What do you do when you’re not writing fiction?

Invent stories in my head and talk to the cat.

Q7  What will you do if you become famous?

Wait for the riches that should come with it.
